Words Collect In My Mouth was a series of Online Talks from Yewande 103, separated into four chapters.
Across these four chapters, Yewande 103 hosted wonderful guest speakers to be in dialogue with and share their practices. Together we focussed on staying in the unknown of creative processes, intimacy within dance for film, practice-based repair, and trust and material care within access-led dance production.

STAYING WITH THE UNKNOWN
Many of our Yewande 103 creative processes and participatory methodologies investigate embodied states as being unflinchingly with our unknowns. What if choreographic practice is a vibrant, roaming forming-unforming-reforming cycle between fluidity and solidity? In trusting communions between multiple sites and in surrendering to our unknowables, form (movement, text, thought) emerges within the shifting sands of change and uncertainty.
For this chapter, artists SERAFINE1369, Florence Peake, *therapist Foluke Taylor and Yewande 103 Executive Producer Nancy May Roberts consider practices and approaches to staying with the unknown in creative, relational process.
MOVEMENT, INTIMACY AND DANCE ON SCREEN
Alexandrina, Creative Director of Yewande 103 has been making screendance since 2015. In 2020, Yewande 103 formalised this offering and continued to build upon this work with a renewed focus on returning to intimacy, challenging fixed notions of ourselves and of binary power modes through retaining the embodied and sensorial on screen and celebrating intersubjective marbling within overlapping marginalised identities.
In this chapter, we consider the specificities of working with movement, intimacy and dance on screen, seeing intimacy as something forged through being seen, felt and/or heard.
DANCE PRODUCTION; THE EXCHANGE OF TRUST AND MATERIAL CARE
With extensive experience working across contexts and developing dance environments that are against the practices of inaccessibility and hierarchy, Grace Okereke, Claricia Parinussa, and Nancy May Roberts will discuss dance infrastructure, mapping the terrains of their practices and foregrounding conversation on developing dance ecologies in the current context and locating ecology support and gaps.
PRACTICE-BASED REPAIR AND BELONGING
In this conversation, Suzanne Alleyne, Rebekah Ubuntu and Natalie Eve Roper will discuss reparative action that is located in practice. Drawing upon Alexandrina’s own work and locating reparative action across the practices this panel holds, this conversation will consider ways to embed rest, regulation and reparative action within creative, social and political organising. There will also be a screening of Alexandrina’s video presentation Rest :: Soft Mess commissioned as part of Ashok Mistry’s Disability Arts Online ONYX Takeover in Nov-Dec 2022.
